The Ventura Hall of Justice is currently the only local criminal court for adult crimes. Misdemeanor cases are handled in departments 10 and 11 while felonies are handled in department 12. You are expected to appear in court promptly at 9 a.m. If there is a preliminary hearing set, you must report to the particular department by 8:30 a.m.
The presiding judge at the Ventura Hall of Justice is Hon. Brian J. Back. The District Attorney and judges in Ventura are particularly strict compared to local counties such as Los Angeles County.
