Three Ventura County Men Arrested On Allegations Of Robbery (PC 211)

Ventura police officers arrested three men in the early morning hours on allegations of robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, and assault with a deadly weapon.  According to police, a man traveling home from work on his bicycle about 1 a.m. near Seaward Avenue and Alessandro Drive was stopped by three men in a car.  The men in the car allegedly demanded money from the man on his bike, authorities said.

When the man refused to hand over his wallet, the three men allegedly began punching and kicking the man.  The victim was allegedly hit in the head with a beer bottle and his wallet was taken from him.  The suspects fled in the car and headed south on Highway 101, authorities said.  An officer transporting a prisoner to the Ventura County jail spotted the suspect vehicle and made a traffic stop.  The three men are aged between 18 years old and 21 years old.

In California, robbery is codified under Penal Code Section 211. It states in pertinent part that “robbery is the felonious taking of personal property in the possession of another, from his person or immediate presence, and against his will, accomplished by means of force or fear.”   Robbery is a felony, and will result in a strike if convicted.

If convicted of a robbery charge, a defendant faces up to 9 years in state prison, if the robbery occurred in an inhabited dwelling.  All other robbery charges carry up to six years in state prison.
