NFL Player Aqib Talib Arrested for Assault
Tampa Bay Buccaneers Aqib Talib surrendered to police on Wednesday morning on a warrant for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, the St. Petersburg Times reported. His mother, Okolo Talib, reportedly turned herself in Tuesday afternoon which was reported by FOXSports.com’s Adam Caplan and NewsCore.
According to police, Talib was involved in a fight on March 21 with his sister’s boyfriend, Shannon Billings, the Dallas Observer reported Monday. The incident, according to police, stemmed from an argument at Talib’s sister Saran’s house between her and Billings.
Saran Talib reportedly called her brother and mother for help during the alleged altercation.
Consequences of an Assault Conviction in California
In California, any person who commits an assault upon the person of
another with a deadly weapon or instrument other than a firearm or by
any means of force likely to produce great bodily injury shall be
punished by imprisonment in the state prison for two, three, or four
years, or in a county jail for not exceeding one year, or by a fine
not exceeding ten thousand dollars ($10,000), or by both the fine and
imprisonment.
