As part of a tradition to grant pardons around the major Christian holidays of Easter and Christmas, California Governor Jerry Brown pardoned 56 people on Good Friday, March 30.
Included in the 56 pardons were two Wallin & Klarich clients.
Our skilled post-conviction relief attorneys worked with our clients to submit favorable pardon applications, which included a questionnaire, letters from friends and relatives that attest to our clients’ good character, and a biography that shows our clients regret their mistake and have lived as ethical, upright citizens since being convicted.
“I am so pleased with this law firm and how they helped me with my pardon. They are very professional and reliable. I highly recommend them. You won’t be disappointed,” our client, J.C., stated. “Thank you again, Wallin & Klarich.”
Gov. Brown has now issued 1,115 pardons since taking office in 2011, and he granted 404 pardons while serving as governor of California from 1975-1983. In contrast, California governors from 1991 through 2010 issued only 15 pardons, with Arnold Schwarzenegger handing down all 15 and Pete Wilson and Gray Davis combining to issue none.
However, Gov. Brown is only in office through 2018, and we do not yet know who the next governor will be and what views he or she has on pardons. That is why you should act now while Jerry Brown is still in office if you wish to seek a California Governor’s Pardon.
If you obtain a Governor’s Pardon, it could restore many of your rights, including your right to own a firearm, serve on a jury, and apply for jobs for which felons are not eligible. If your conviction was for a sex offense, being granted a pardon could end your obligation to register as a sex offender.
