In California, criminal appeals are complicated. If you are going to be successful on appeal, you will need a criminal defense lawyer who will vigorously defend you in court.
To win your appeal, you must first file a notice of appeal within 60 days of your sentencing if you have been convicted of a felony. If you have been convicted of a misdemeanor, you have 30 days after your sentencing to file your notice of appeal.
If you file after the allotted time has passed, you will most likely not be allowed to appeal your case.
Only in special circumstances will the court allow a late filing of an appeals notice.
