Southern California Coach Arrested for Underage Sex Crimes Allegations

A wrestling coach from Southern California has been arrested on allegations of engaging in sexual relationships with underage students. The Orange County Sheriff’s Department reported that Anthony Oscar Alcala, a 28-year-old resident of Huntington Beach, was taken into custody on Wednesday in connection with these accusations. According to investigators, a report was filed in February 2025 alleging that Alcala had groomed two teenage victims before initiating sexual relationships with them.

The victims stated that the incidents took place during Alcala’s time as a wrestling coach at El Modena High School in Orange and Foothill High School in Santa Ana. During the investigation, authorities also uncovered that Alcala had previously coached at a private wrestling club in Placentia known as Premier Wrestling, formerly Somar Wrestling. He was subsequently arrested and booked into the Orange County Jail, facing multiple felony charges, including engaging in sexual intercourse with a minor.

The recent arrest of Anthony Oscar Alcala on serious charges has caused significant public concern. However, it is crucial to remember that an arrest is not an indication of guilt. In the United States, the legal system operates on the principle that every individual is presumed innocent until proven guilty. Allegations alone are insufficient to determine guilt; they must be thoroughly examined in a court of law, where the burden of proof lies entirely with the prosecution. For a conviction, the prosecutor must prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the accused is guilty, a standard that requires unanimous agreement among all 12 jurors.

Alcala is scheduled for arraignment at Orange County Superior Court. We strongly encourage the public to remain calm and refrain from drawing conclusions about his guilt or innocence before all evidence has been presented and evaluated in a court of law. To do otherwise would risk unfairly tarnishing Alcala’s reputation before justice has taken its due course.
