Head of IMF Arrested for Alleged Sexual Assault, on Suicide Watch – California Penal Code 289
On May 16, 2011, the head of the International Monetary Fund, Dominique Strauss-Kahn, was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a chambermaid at a New York hotel. He is being held at Riker’s Island jail and is on suicide watch.
Sources indicate that Strauss-Kahn forcibly touched her breasts, forced her to perform oral sex on him, attempted to force her to submit to anal sex, and tried to remove her panty hose. The alleged victim escaped and called police, but when they arrived at the hotel, Strauss-Kahn had already left. Police arrested him at JFK Airport after he had already boarded his flight and was awaiting takeoff.
Jail officials placed him on suicide watch based on something he said or did during a jailhouse psychiatric evaluation.
He is being held without bail. Prior to these allegations, he was considered a frontrunner to become the next President of France.
