Orange County Man in Federal Court on Embezzlement Charges After Allegedly Funneling $16 Million of Employers Funds Into Personal Accounts

The former CFO at an Irvine tech company was arrested on federal embezzlement charges and appeared in court today. His federal crimes attorney will have his hands full handling the case as the defendant is accused of funneling approximately $16 million from the company into his own bank account.

Jean Joseph Ibrahim (33) was arrested last month at JFK international airport after an FBI investigation into his alleged embezzlement of funds from Irvine based tech firm Trustin Technology.

Ibrahim had been confronted by his superiors about discrepancies in the accounting, but Ibrahim assured them that delinquent payments from customers was the reason why the numbers didn’t add up. According to the investigation, Ibrahim was actually doctoring the accounting ledgers and funneling money into his personal accounts.

The investigation alleges that Ibrahim used the money for high end suits, vacations and other personal expenses, as well as to gamble and invest on the commodities market.

Federal crimes almost always carry more severe penalties than state crimes. A person convicted of a federal crime also will likely serve a longer percentage of the sentence than someone convicted of a similar crime in state court.

That is why it is vital that you contact a federal criminal lawyer if you are under investigation by a federal agency.

The federal criminal court process is much different than the state process, and there is too much on the line to risk you freedom and your future with someone who isn’t versed in the federal criminal process.
