Former All-Star Baseball Player Lenny Dykstra Arrested On Allegations Of Auto Theft

Former baseball star Lenny Dykstra is perhaps best known for his performance with the New York Mets in the 1986 World Series against the Boston Red Sox.  His homerun sparked a Mets’ rally that resulted in a series win, after being down two games to the Red Sox.

Dykstra was arrested by Los Angeles Police Officers for suspicion of grand theft auto. Authorities allege that the baseball star obtained the vehicle through fraudulent means.

Grand theft auto is codified under California Penal Code Section 487, which states a person is guilty of grand theft if they take the owner’s vehicle with the intent to permanently deprive the owner of the vehicle.  In other words, the individual who took the vehicle, had not intention of returning it to the owner.
