Charlie Sheen’s Ex Facing Two Felony Drug Charges, Could Lose Custody of Their Children
Considering the public downward spiral that Charlie Sheen endured last year, you would think the actor would eventually be facing some serious drug charges. However, it’s his ex, Brooke Mueller, who is in need of a skilled criminal defense attorney, as she faces felony drug charges in Colorado.
The case stems from a December arrest in Aspen, CO. Mueller was charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute after police found her with more than 4 grams of cocaine on her person. Four grams is the magic number where it is assumed that the cocaine is not simply for personal use.
The arrest happened after a woman called police claiming she had been assaulted by Mueller at a local nightclub. It was during that investigation that police found the cocaine in Mueller’s possession.
Mueller is also charged with 3rd degree assault. Police have also charged Mueller with a felony possession charge.
Both drug charges are felonies, but the possession with intent to sell is by far the more serious. If convicted of the more serious charge, Mueller could face as many as 12 years in prison. The possession charge comes with a maximum of 18 months in prison.
It seems likely that Mueller’s attorney will seek some sort of plea deal to dismiss the intent to sell charge, though at this time, Mueller’s representative says that she intends to fight all the charges against her.
Mueller and Sheen divorced last year after Sheen plead guilty to assaulting Mueller in 2009. The pair has twin boys together. Mueller has primary custody of the children, but if found guilty, she would be in violation of the custody agreement, and Sheen could potentially sue for custody.
