According to an FBI spokesperson, authorities arrested Cody Kalin Barnum, a 22 year-old man living in Ventura, California. Authorities arrested Barnum for a bank robbery that occurred on June 28, 2010.
Barnum was referred to as the ‘Futbol Bandit’ because he wore a sweatshirt with the logo of an international soccer club on the front. Authorities arrested Barnum after they received a tip about him from someone who saw his photo in the media.
Under California Penal Code 211, robbery is defined, as the felonious taking of personal property in the possession of another, from his person or immediate presence, and against his will, accomplished by means of force or fear. Under certain circumstances, a person can face up to nine years in prison for one act of robbery.
The ‘Futbol Bandit’ allegedly approached the bank teller and handed them a note which said if they did not give him money, that he would shoot them.
