Former USC quarterback, Mitch Mustain, could avoid having misdemeanor drug charges being filed against him, as part of a deal cut with the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office. Mustain was arrested earlier this year in Los Angeles on suspicion of selling prescription drugs. However, he could avoid prosecution if he completes a pre-filing diversion program through the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office.
Mustain allegedly sold Adderall, or lisdexamfetamine dimesylate, to an undercover Los Angeles police officer. The drug is not a controlled substance, but it still considered a prescription narcotic. As part of the pre-filing diversion program, Mustain must perform 100 hours of community service, complete a drug-education program, and must avoid police contact for a year. If he fulfills all of these requirements, no charges will be filed against him.
