Road Rage Incident Closes 60 Freeway.

KTLA’s, David Begnaud reported yesterday that there was an incident involving an off duty sheriff deputy that closed the 60 freeway in south El Monte The incident occurred near the Peck Road off ramp.

Apparently a motorist got into an altercation with a deputy, while traveling on the 60 freeway Friday afternoon. During this road rage incident the motorist allegedly brandished a gun at the deputy, whereby the deputy tried to leave the scene. The motorist supposedly fired his weapon at the deputy’s vehicle, and the deputy then returned fire with his weapon, striking the suspect in the upper body. The suspect was taken to a local hospital. It is unknown whether or not assault with a deadly weapon charges will be brought against the suspect.

If a person is charged with assault with a deadly weapon with a firearm, he may be punished up to 4 years in prison and a fine up to ten thousand dollars. This is a also considered a “strike”.
