VIRAL VIDEO STAR TED WILLIAMS ARRESTED BUT NOT CHARGED – CPC 415

On January 10, 2011, viral video star Ted Williams and his daughter were arrested after a heated exchange in a Hollywood hotel.  Both parties were released after spending less than an hour in jail, and the prosecutor will not file charges against either party.
Williams, a former radio voiceover artist who was recently homeless, became a Youtube star after a clip showed him exhibiting his voiceover talent while asking for change on the side of the road.  The clip quickly spread and he has fielded voice talent offers from a variety of radio stations and other companies, including the Cleveland Cavaliers.   He has admitted having previous issues with drug and alcohol abuse.
Under CPC 415, creating a public disturbance is a public offense that can be either an infraction or a misdemeanor.  Public disturbances include unlawfully fighting in public or obnoxious and inflammatory public speech likely to induce a fight.
If you are accused of creating a public disturbance, contact an experienced Los Angeles criminal defense lawyer.  Because disturbing the peace can be charged as a misdemeanor or an infraction, you will need an aggressive attorney to try to convince the prosecutor to reduce the charge to an infraction because infractions do not show up on your criminal record.
If you have been accused of disturbing the peace or public drunkenness, you will need a knowledgeable Los Angeles criminal defense attorney to vigorously represent you.  At Wallin & Klarich, we have helped people accused of public disturbances and being drunk in public for over 30 years.  Call us today at (888) 764-2615 or visit us at our website at www.wklaw.com. We will be there when you call.
